About These Terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form an agreement between you and Decibel School of Music ("Decibel", "we", "us", or "our").

They apply to your use of our website, trial classes, paid courses, online lessons, offline lessons, communications, learning materials, and related services.

If a student is under 18 years of age, these Terms must be accepted by the student's parent or legal guardian, who will be responsible for the student's participation and applicable payments.

Our Services

Decibel School of Music provides music education for students of different ages and experience levels.

Our services may include:

• One-to-one online music lessons
• Offline or in-person music lessons
• Trial classes
• Keyboard and piano instruction
• Guitar instruction
• Vocal instruction
• Graded music courses
• Trinity College London examination preparation, where applicable
• Progress guidance and performance development

Course availability, schedules, teachers, lesson formats, curriculum, and other service details may change from time to time.

Student Eligibility

Students may enroll according to the age and level requirements applicable to the selected course.

For students below 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must provide the required consent and accurate information during registration.

Trial Classes

Trial classes may be offered to allow a prospective student to understand our teaching approach and determine whether a particular course is suitable.

• Trial availability depends on teacher and schedule availability.
• A trial booking may require advance payment or confirmation, depending on the applicable offer.
• Trial classes are subject to the same standards of respectful conduct expected during regular classes.
• Booking a trial does not automatically guarantee admission into a particular course or time slot.

Enrolment & Course Access

Enrolment is confirmed only after the applicable registration requirements have been completed and the required fees have been received or otherwise confirmed by Decibel.

Course access, lesson schedules, teacher allocation, and learning resources are provided according to the course selected at the time of enrolment.

Students must not share individual course access, login credentials, lesson links, or private learning resources with other people without written permission from Decibel.

We may make reasonable changes to teachers, lesson times, course structure, or delivery methods when required for operational, educational, or scheduling reasons.

Fees & Payments

Course fees, trial fees, payment schedules, and other charges will be communicated before the relevant booking or enrolment.

• Fees must be paid through the payment method made available by Decibel.
• Students or parents/guardians are responsible for providing accurate billing information.
• A course or lesson may not be considered confirmed until the applicable payment has been received.
• Any applicable taxes, transaction charges, or third-party payment charges will be handled according to the applicable payment terms.

Current fees and payment terms may be updated for future enrolments. Any such change will not alter fees already paid for a confirmed course period unless otherwise agreed.

Attendance & Rescheduling

Regular attendance is important for meaningful progress. Students are expected to attend their scheduled lessons on time and be prepared to participate.

For online lessons:

• Students should join the lesson using the designated link or platform before the scheduled start time.
• Students should have a suitable instrument, device, internet connection, and quiet learning environment.
• Late arrival may reduce the effective lesson time where the teacher has another scheduled class afterward.

Requests for rescheduling should be made as early as reasonably possible and remain subject to teacher and timetable availability.

Student Conduct

Decibel aims to maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for students and teachers.

Students and parents/guardians must not:

• Harass, threaten, abuse, or intimidate teachers, staff, or other students.
• Use offensive, discriminatory, abusive, or inappropriate language during classes or communications.
• Disrupt lessons intentionally.
• Attempt to access another student's account or private information.
• Record, reproduce, distribute, or publish private lessons or teaching materials without permission.

Serious or repeated misconduct may result in suspension or termination of services.

Course Materials & Intellectual Property

Course notes, lesson plans, exercises, recordings, worksheets, videos, graphics, website content, branding, logos, and other educational materials provided by Decibel are intended for the personal educational use of enrolled students.

Unless we give written permission, you must not copy, sell, upload, redistribute, publish, commercially exploit, or otherwise reproduce substantial portions of our proprietary course materials.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Decibel's intellectual property to a student or parent/guardian.

Classes, Recordings & Media

Online or offline classes may occasionally be recorded for educational, quality-control, administrative, or safety purposes where appropriate.

Where a recording includes a student, Decibel will handle such information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable consent requirements.

Students and parents/guardians must not independently record, photograph, screenshot, publish, or distribute private lessons involving teachers or other students without appropriate permission.

Assessments & Certification

Some Decibel courses may prepare students for external music examinations or graded assessments, including Trinity College London examinations where applicable.

Completion of a Decibel course does not by itself guarantee a particular examination result, grade, certificate, or admission to an external examination.

External examination bodies may have their own registration requirements, fees, rules, dates, eligibility requirements, and assessment standards.

Online Classes & Technology

Online lessons depend on third-party technology, internet connectivity, devices, software, and communication platforms.

Decibel is not responsible for interruptions caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including internet failures, device problems, power outages, platform outages, or third-party technical failures.

Where a lesson is disrupted by a technical problem attributable to Decibel or the teaching platform under our control, we may, where reasonably possible, provide an alternative arrangement.

Limitation of Liability

Music education involves practice, participation, individual learning ability, and personal effort. While we aim to provide high-quality instruction, Decibel does not guarantee a specific learning outcome, performance level, examination result, or professional outcome.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Decibel will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of our website or services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted under applicable law.

Suspension & Termination

Decibel may suspend or terminate a student's access to services where reasonably necessary, including in cases of serious misconduct, non-payment, misuse of course materials, unauthorized sharing of access, or violation of these Terms.

Where appropriate, we may provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue before termination.

Termination does not automatically remove any payment, confidentiality, intellectual-property, or other obligations that are intended to continue after termination.

Privacy

Your personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the circumstances in which it may be shared.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our services, policies, legal requirements, or business practices.

Continued use of our website or services after updated Terms are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable in India.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or our services shall, where required, be subject to the jurisdiction of the appropriate courts in India.

We encourage students and parents/guardians to contact us first so that we can attempt to resolve concerns directly and reasonably.
