It started with a teacher, an instrument and a student.
Decibel was built around a simple belief: music education works best when the teacher can actually see, hear and understand the student in front of them.
Decibel School of Music was founded by Koushik Mukherjee in Bhagalpur in 2021. What began as in-person piano, keyboard and guitar lessons gradually grew into an academy built around individual attention, practical learning and steady progress.
Instead of building around crowded batches or pre-recorded lessons, Decibel chose a different model: one teacher, one student and one live session at a time.
Over the years, that approach shaped the courses we teach today — from Sing While You Play, Keynotes and Strumline to the graded Crescendo Keys and Crescendo Strings programmes.
The school has grown, but the principle has remained the same: students should not simply consume music lessons. They should make music, receive feedback, understand what they are doing and know what to work on next.
